Unique page views are way up, so if you have a banner or a link to a website you want to promote, go ahead and add it. Feel free to create a gallery or portfolio and add some images. If you need any help, just let us know! (0) Replies
Author: Christine Posted: Sun Oct 14, 2007 8:33 pm Post: While we're going to keep most of the 'rules' for this site to a minimum, there are a few guidelines everyone should keep in mind so we can all play nice and have fun! On receiving Comments & Critiques: Posting to a public forum or gallery can be a very personal experience. You're sharing your thoughts, ideas, little pieces of your life and possibly glimpses of your innermost self with virtual strangers. While everyone likes to get warm and fuzzy feedback, that won't always happen. How do you react when someone really slams something you've posted? Do you get upset and take it personal or maybe retaliate with a scathing response of your own? Well, before doing either of those (or maybe something worse like crying your eyes out) here are a few things to keep in mind. #1 - Don't take it personal! The critique is about your POSTING, not about YOU. Most people are only trying to help when they critique what they see online. Go back and read the critique again and see if you can see it from their perspective. Maybe you will even learn something helpful. #2 - Don't get angry. Try to detach yourself from your post and any comments associated with it. See item #1. #3 - Expect to get criticism when you upload an image or post a comment. Look forward to it if you want to grow in your art. Then you can move on to #4. #4 - Ask for a critique. #5 - Don't assume no one likes your work just because there aren't any comments on it. People get busy and don't always have time to comment on everything (you can relate, right). On giving Comments & Critiques: So you see an photo someone uploaded that just really sucks! It's completely awful and you're ready to tell the artist just that! Now that wouldn't be very nice, would it? Try the following instead: #1 - If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. Just kidding! We don't want terrible artists creating more terrible tattoos! #2 - Suggest ways the artist can improve. A kind critique would be more appreciated than a scathing commentary about how much their work sucks. And once they realize how much they suck, they're going to be pretty bummed, so don't rub it in too much. #3 - Don't use words like 'sucks' or 'awful'. Unless you're me! #4 - Be considerate & respectful. Realize that everyone sees the world differently through their own eyes and this is your chance to see things from a different perspective. And to see some really sucky homemade tattoos! But really folks, I'm (mostly) kidding in the above post. This is more of a test message to get things rolling and get the bugs out. I look forward to seeing lots of cool tattoos and meeting some awesome people on this site. Your admin and webmaster, Christine (0) Replies
